About Dr. Clark
After receiving my chemistry degree at the University of Colorado, I started my first career in environmental science at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Working in this field helped me become aware of the exposure we have to toxins in our daily lives. Also, I managed the clean-up of high-priority, complex, hazardous waste facilities, which required me to listen to all sides and appreciate different perspectives on issues before I made a decision on how to proceed with the clean-up. This practice in listening turned out to be a good foundation on which to base my naturopathic practice.
When I was working for the EPA in Washington DC, I contracted a virus infection, which turned into chronic fatigue syndrome. I had been drawn to natural approaches to health, so when lab tests did not find anything wrong, I explored alternative methods of healing that included changing my diet, detoxifying, and using herbal and nutritional supplements. These helped me get well enough to begin a four-year study in naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington. Eventually, a naturopathic doctor diagnosed me as having a chronic Epstein Bar virus infection. This diagnosis finally helped me find the appropriate treatments to heal myself. I graduated from Bastyr University with my degree in naturopathy in 2002.
My first few years as a naturopathic doctor were spent working with medical doctors, osteopaths, and a variety of other health care providers in an integrated family medicine practice in Centennial, CO. After moving to Boulder, I worked at the Women’s Center for Natural Medicine, as an independent practitioner treating women and children. I also worked in a medical clinic in Lafayette, CO, where my focus was on helping people recover from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Currently I work independently at the Colorado Therapies and Aquatic Center (www.coloradotherapies.com) in Gunbarrel, CO.
I am an active member of the Colorado Association of Naturopathic Doctors, and support the licensure of NDs in Colorado. I live in Boulder with my husband, Dick, and our yellow lab, Sam. We enjoy anything we can do outdoors, especially cycling, hiking, and skiing.
